Report a crypto scam & shut down the site

A complete guide to documenting a fraudulent crypto platform, reporting it to the relevant authorities, and getting it removed at the host.

5 steps to shut down a fraudulent crypto platform

    Step 1

    Don't send another cent

Any request for an 'unlocking fee' or a 'withdrawal tax' is a classic sign of a scam. Cut off all communication with the platform immediately.

    Step 2

Capture the evidence: URL, exchanges, wallet addresses

Screenshots of the platform (with the address bar visible), a history of emails, Telegram, or WhatsApp messages, and the wallet addresses your funds were sent to. Blackwall archives this evidence in a tamper-proof way.

    Step 3

    Identify the host through WHOIS

A WHOIS lookup reveals the host of the fraudulent site (often Cloudflare, Namecheap, OVH). Each host has a dedicated abuse address. Blackwall automates this lookup.

    Step 4

Report to the AMF, Blackwall, and Chainabuse

AMF (France's financial markets authority): official blacklist. Blackwall: takedown of the site. Chainabuse: reporting the wallet address so exchanges can blacklist it.

    Step 5

Follow up and file a report with Pharos

File a report through internet-signalement.gouv.fr (Pharos) and with your local police. Blackwall monitors the site closure (typically 2-24 hours).

Where to report a crypto scam

Reporting through multiple channels is most effective: official blacklist plus infrastructure takedown plus wallet freezing.

    BlackwallTakedown

Submits the URL to the host and registrar, monitors status hourly, and confirms the takedown. Globally operated, GDPR-aligned for EU users.

    Report the URL

    AMF: Blacklist

France's Financial Markets Authority publishes the official list of unauthorized platforms and can request DNS blocking from internet service providers.

    amf-france.org

    Chainabuse

A global database of fraudulent wallet addresses used by Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken to freeze incoming funds.

    chainabuse.com

    Pharos (internet-signalement.gouv.fr)

France's official platform for reporting illegal online content and behavior. A required step before filing a police report.
